iHuman draws on expertise from across the social sciences, the humanities and STEM disciplines and brings together academics, community groups and third sector organisations. We promote risky conversations between and across disciplines and do this primarily through our funded research projects. We also host a number of events that grow our collective and enhance debate.
How we understand
How we understand being ‘human’ differs between disciplines and has changed radically over time. We are living in an age marked by rapid growth in knowledge about the human body and brain, and new technologies with the potential to change them. Simultaneously, many people across the globe are facing dehumanising practices associated with austerity, conflict and exploitation.
