Chris Winter is Senior Lecturer in the University of Sheffield School of Education. She is interested in the politics of school curriculum knowledge, for example the use of curriculum policy for state security purposes and the framing of school knowledge through Eurocentric perspectives. She researches the ways in which teachers and students enact, negotiate and resist curriculum policies in schools. She has published in journals like the Journal of Curriculum Studies, The Curriculum Journal and the Journal of Education Policy. Chris co-directs the Centre for Critical Psychology and Education in the School of Education and is Deputy Director of the Education Childhood and Youth Pathway of the White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership. She directs the EdD Educational Studies programme. Chris is a former secondary school teacher of Geography, school textbook author and PGCE tutor. She currently leads modules and supervises dissertations across undergraduate, MA, EdD and PhD levels.
